Programs & Schedule

We offer a variety of programs for all ages and levels of Buddhist practice. Contact us to confirm current schedules.

Weekly Meditation

Open meditation sessions are held for all levels every Sunday. No experience is necessary — beginners are just as welcome as long-time practitioners. We encourage you to arrive a few minutes early to get settled. Cushions and chairs are available for use.

Dhamma Talks

Regular talks are given by Bhante Maithree Maha Thera and Bhanthe Sumanapal on Buddhist teachings drawn from the Pali Canon. These talks explore the practical application of the Buddha's teachings in everyday life and are open to all — no prior knowledge of Buddhism is required.

Dhamma School

Buddhist education for children and youth is offered every Sunday, covering Pali chants, Buddhist values, and cultural activities in a warm and supportive environment. Learn more about Dhamma School →

Full Moon Puja

A monthly puja ceremony is held on the full moon day, one of the most important observances in Theravada Buddhism. The ceremony includes chanting, offerings, and Dhamma teachings. All are welcome to attend and participate.

Life Ceremonies

The temple conducts a range of life ceremonies including birthdays, weddings, house blessings, funerals, and other significant occasions. If you would like to request a ceremony, please contact us at info@virginiabouddhavihar.org.

Community Outreach

Virginia Bouddha Vihar is committed to serving the broader community. Our outreach activities include food drives, free health clinics, hospital visits, and drug rehabilitation support at Inova Fairfax. We believe compassionate service is an expression of the Buddha's teachings in action.
